Microsite for a Movie Marathon

In week 6, at Ironhack Berlin our task was to prepare an interactive microsite for an event and I decided to work on an event that captured my attention a few months ago — a 24 hour Harry Potter movie marathon. The idea of entering a room and being bombarded with moving images for 24 hours fascinated me so much that I wanted to know more — who and why would do that? What is the thrill?

I contacted the event organizers, checked info about past events and I dived into the Wizarding world universe to find out more about the participants of the event as well as the appeal of the Harry Potter series.

And now I want you to imagine in this seat …

someone who grew up with the books and movies of Harry Potter, but is not a child or teenager anymore. Or someone — adventurous and curious in spirit who is willing to go for a ride…for a 24h ride!

And now that you are one of those persons — once you are in the room and cozy in your seat — you expect to go on a journey…

that takes you somewhere…

and never lets you down…

So I knew from there on that my site, just like the movie series should feel — magic, exciting, immersive, but at the same time also intimate. Meanwhile, the look should touch on 'reality' in an indirect way …so I sought inspiration in animations, newspapers, posters, maps, and photographies (see an example of a mood board and style tile)

Nevertheless, coming up with something more was not easy. It was one of those weeks when the energy levels were down big time, frustration was up to the roof and the hands were refusing to execute the simplest of actions.

So in this post, I am including only one screen and you have to imagine the steps moving to the tickets and you getting on-board for a journey…..tip, tap, tip, tap…tu, tuuuuuu…

Just like this …

Thank you Julia for the moving steps!
